Audeau double
Father and son duo of Basil and Louie Audeau took home the major spoils in the Tinwald Cycling Club, Brad Hudson Flooring, KPMG, 38km handicap event around the Wakanui - Hakatere course on Sunday.
Basil securing victory in the senior race after watching his son Louie earlier win a three up sprint to take junior honours.
Audeau senior made the best possible come back from a long injury lay off, breaking clear with co-marker Hayden Ferriman, and riding strongly to keep the chasing groups at bay.
Ferriman showed he will be one to watch with a great ride to secure the second place spoils.
Wayne Whiting led in the chasing bunch to take a well-deserved third place.
Don Sutton was hot on this heels to claim fourth place.
Mike Rigarlsford and Kyle Gray rounded out the top six.
Gray also secured fastest time honours, riding the distance in 47.59.
Co-markers Craig Domigan and Noah Hollamby recorded second and third time.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.
Louie Audeau had the final say in the sprint to the line to take the victory and in doing so also claimed fastest time honours, riding the course in 28.34.
Eliza McKenzie pushed hard to the line to claim the second place spoils.
Jack Hooper was in the thick of the finish to step onto the final podium position.
Kaidyn Broomhall took fourth place.
Terresa Hooper secured division 2 honours from Kenny Johnston, and Stacey Hooper.
Next week the Club will contest a 45km handicap event around the Dawsons road block.
