Hands goes back to back

Steve Hands has kicked of his Tinwald Cycling Club season in winning fashion when he claimed the victors spoils for the second week running.

Hands produced his trade mark sprint to secure top honours in the Ashburton Contracting Limited, 32km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.

Cole Harris pushed Hands all the way to the line to secure second place with the evergreen Tony Ward taking the final podium position.

George Coles backed up last week’s tough performance with a solid fourth place.

Alan Broomhall and Ralph Tompsett rounded out the top six.

Scratch marker Craig Domigan rode the distance in a slick 40.40, to claim fastest time honours from co-marker Kyle Gray, with Hands recording third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.

Cody Rollinson produced a top shelf ride to take the win, after a tough battle with second placegetter Blake Broomhall.

Jack Gorrie charged though from the back mark to take third place and record fastest honours, riding the course in 25.07.

Kaidyn Broomhall and Katie Rollinson filled out the top five spots.

Stacey Hooper scored the win in division 2.

Next week the Club will contest a 38km handicap event around the Wakanui- Hakatere circuit.
