Kircher by a nose

Darrell Kircher’s well timed lunge on the line secured a hard fought win in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Calder Stewart, 60km handicap event around the Dawson’s Road block on Sunday,

Kircher and his co-markers settled into their work early, working hard to find the front of the race inside the final 10km.

The finish was hotly contested with Kircher getting the nod over second place getter Alex Hooper.

Monique Brake stormed into third place, setting her up well for the coming NZ age group track championships in two weeks’ time.

Amy Hollamby was to the fore of the winning group, rounding out a good days work with fourth place.

Don Sutton and Paul Brake dug deep to secure fifth and sixth positions.

Scratch marker Michael Audeau secured fastest time honours, riding the course in 79.31.

Co-markers Kyle Gray and Noah Hollamby recorded second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 15km handicap event.

Charlotte Neal produced a top ride to catch the front late in the race and hold on strongly to take the win.

Carter Shepherd was gallant in defeat, seeing of the chasers to take second place.

Louie Audeau produced a top sprint to take the final podium position and also record fastest time, riding the distance in 27.03.

Jack Hooper was hot on his heels in fourth place.

Division 2 saw a grand stand finish with Graham McDougall taking the honours over Brian Ellis and Nigel Leary.

Next week the Club will contest the penultimate event of the season, a 64km handicap event around the Wakanui 7 Rises course.
