Final dash victory to Leary
Nigel Leary lifted the major silverware when taking out Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Hinds Seed Cleaning, 50km handicap event on the rural roads of Hinds on Sunday.
Leary and his co-markers made every post a winner riding strongly as a group off the front mark to keep the chasing bunches at bay.
In the three up sprint to the line it was Leary who had the final say to take the victory.
Dave Shurrock turned the clock back, producing a great effort to take the second place spoils.
Lucy Kirwan was rewarded for a top shelf ride, securing the final podium position and in doing so won the Lauren Ellis Trophy for first women home.
Craig Domigan stormed through the field for the back mark to secure fourth place and fastest time honours, riding the course in 62.44.
Kylie Gray and Michael Audeau filled fifth and sixth place along with second and third time.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 15km handicap event.
Zac Brookland secured a long over due win with a top ride from the back mark to claim victory. Zac covered the distance in 25.51 to also record the fastest time.
Copper Spillane claimed the second place spoils with a solid ride.
Third placegetter Carter Shepherd continued his great form to step on to the podium.
Jack Hooper and Charlotte Neal rounded out the top five.
Home town boy Brain Ellis took division 2 honours seeing of the challenge of his fellow rider in the charge to the line.
Next week the Club will contest a 60km handicap event around the Dawson’s Road block.
