Nelson all the way
Para cyclist Jono Nelson claimed the major spoils in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, ANZCO Foods, 48km handicap event around the Grahams Road block on Sunday.
Starting of the front mark, Nelson didn’t let off, powering his way to victory to lift the McElhinney Trophy.
The back markers stormed through the field to claim with minor prizes.
Kyle Gray backed up last weeks win with second place and fastest time honours, riding the distance in 64.15.
Michael Audeau was hot on his tail in third place and secured second time.
Little brother Thomas Audeau kept the family flag flying with fourth place and third time.
Cole Harris backed up a successful previous day’s effort on the mountain bike to record fifth place.
Tony Ward dug deep to fill out the top six.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap race.
Louie Audeau ensured a good drive home for the Audeau family, produced a strong ride to take the victors spoils in the junior event.
He was pushed to the line by second place getter Jack Hooper.
Oscar Gorrie who was caught in the shadow of the line was rewarded with third place.
Big Brother Jack Gorrie recorded fourth place and also took fastest time honours, riding the course in 26.54.
Brian Ellis had the final say in division 2 to take the win from Graham McDougall, and Alan Johns.
Next week the Club will travel to Hinds to contest a 50km handicap event.
