O’Briens hard work starting to pay off

Brad O’Brien’s Coast to Coast training programme paid dividends on Sunday when he took victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, McIntosh Group, 57km handicap event around the Blackbridge block.

It was a hard fought win, decided on the line after a tight bunch sprint to the finish.

O’Brien’s victory saw him lift the Eddie Ward Shield.

Doug Coley will be happy with his days work putting in a solid effort to secure the second place spoils.

Roger Wilson was rewarded for his recent the hard work, stepping up onto the final podium position.

Don Morrison was in the thick of the finish to claim fourth spot.

Jono Nelson took fifth place, with sixth place getter Tesh McIntosh awarded the Chris Ward Cup for first lady home.

Craig Domigan continued his strong season securing fastest time honours, riding the course in 79.31.

Co-markers Kyle Gray and Glen Gould took second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 19km handicap event.

Back marker Mitch Brookland produced a great ride to get through the field and take the win and in doing also lifted fastest time, covering the distance in 30.13.

Lochlan Hall found the line strongly to take the second place spoils with Olivia Ewing producing a strong effort in third place.

Leah Reid, Charlotte Neal, and Isabella Inglis filled the top half dozen places.  

Alan Johns took the division 2 spoils form Ross Templeton, and Kerry Clough.  

Next week Club titles will be up for grabs, raced over 64km around the Wakanui Beach block.
