Domigan in good form
Timaru’s Craig Domigan had the final say in a large bunch sprint to take victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, Stoked Cycles, Spray Marks, 48km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
The riders not only battled each other but also wet winter conditions that fortunately lifted mid race.
Domigan and his co-markers worked hard, only finding the front of the race inside the final 5km.
This set up a group charge to the line, with Domigan edging out second placegetter Steve Hands in the final dash.
Mark Summerfield stormed into third place with a strong finish.
Steve Caldwell was rewarded for a solid effort, taking the fourth place spoils.
The ever consistent Mike Pearce recorded fifth place with Mike Gallagher rounding out the top six.
Domigan also lifted fastest time honours, riding the distance in a quick 65.22.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.
Olivia Ewing made it a good day for the visiting riders, claiming the win in the junior event.
Charlotte Neal fought hard to hold out the chasing riders and take second place.
Ryan Gallagher produced his trade mark tough ride to secure third place.
Eliza McKenzie and Tom Reid rode great in tough conditions to take fourth and fifth places respectively.
Sixth placegetter Isabella Inglis recorded the fastest time, riding the course in 29.11.
Janette Hooper secured division 2 honours.
Next week the Club will trek to the low lands of Mt Somers to contest a 45km handicap event.
