Back markers to the fore
Leading into the last few races of the Tinwald Cycling Clubs season the scratch markers flexed some muscle on Sunday, seeing them find the front of the Calder Stewart, Lupa Cycling, 57km handicap event around the Blackbridge block on Sunday.
Glen Gould had the best of the finish to take the hotly contested sprint and lift the winner and fastest time cups.
Gould rode the distance in 80.02.
Fellow Timaru visitor Andy Hilton secured second place and time.
Tony Ward was in the thick of the finish to claim the third place and time spoils.
Larry Neal continued his good form to take fourth place.
Mark Summerfield and Shane Brookland rounding out the top six.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 19km handicap race.
James Reid produced his best ride of the season, making a solo bid mid race to find the front and hold on bravely to take a good win.
Zoe Spillane was hot on his tail to secure a hard earned second place.
Ryan Gallagher produced his trade mark gutsy ride to take the final podium position.
Riley Crampton had a great ride to claim fourth place.
Honor Bradford and Flynn Turnbull filled out the top six places.
Scratch marker Mitch Brookland recorded the fastest time honours, riding the course in 31.07.
Kerry Clough produced a strong finish to claim division 2 victory, from Brian Ellis, and Debbie Skinner.
Nigel Leary took time honours.
Next week the Club will contest the penultimate event of the season, a 65km handicap event around the Wakanui 7 rises course.
