Stainger solo’s to victory
Jason Stainger produced a strong solo effort to take victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, Ashburton Contracting Ltd, Small Business Accounting, 32km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
With the race coming together in the concluding stages, Stainger dug deep to keep the chasing groups at bay.
Don Summerfield led in the chasing group to secure the second place spoils. Michelle Knight is riding herself into some of the good form she showed last season, claimed the final podium position.
Don Morrison, Nigel Chatterton, and Shane Gerken rounded out a competitive top six.
Scratch marker Shane Brookland rode the distance in 46.25 to secure fastest time honours from co-markers Tony Ward and Brad Hudson.
The juniors contested a 16km handicap event.
Jack Templeton opened his season account with a hard fought win, breaking away on the final rise and holding on to lift the trophy.
Zac Brookland showed plenty of fight to take the second place spoils.
Maddie Lowry put her recent good form to the test to secure third place and third fastest time honours.
Scratch marker Ethan Titheridge charged through the field to take fourth spot and fastest time honours, riding the course in 25.40.
Caitlin Titheridge continuing her good form securing second fastest time honours.
Debbie Skinner reversed last weeks result to take division 2 victory from Janette Hooper, with Sue Templeton riding into third place.
Next week the Club will contest a 38km handicap event around the Wakanui – Hakatere course.
